On Sunday, September 29, 2013, more than 125 shareholders, friends and supporters of the Community Supported Garden at Genesis Farm will gather for what is sure to be a memorable and historic Farm-to-Fork Anniversary Gala celebrating the CSA’s 25 years.
What began as a innovative concept in 1988 on an acre of land has grown to an internationally known farm feeding 300 share-holding families a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, fruit, legumes and grains. Genesis Farm was a pioneer in the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) concept and offers an opportunity for a community of people to take greater responsibility for their social and community relationships by mutually supporting their own farm. In turn, the farm supports them and provides not only nutritious chemical-free food, but an opportunity to grow in friendship, mutual support, and a commitment to restore the soils, air and water through their choices and decisions.
The Farm-to-Fork Anniversary Gala will feature food raised at the Community Supported Garden at Genesis Farm and surrounding farms, prepared by eight well-known chefs, paired with local organic wine and libations. The very special event will begin with farm tours and a cocktail hour to be followed by six courses, music and perhaps a little dancing, all under a tent in field across from the farm’s entrance on Silver Lake Road in Frelinghuysen, NJ.
3 p.m.: Cocktails, appetizers, farm tours
4:30 p.m.: 6 course dinner, paired with local organic wines, followed by dessert buffet
